About EduGold

EduGold provides a careers service for international students. We help students

• who are planning to study at a UK university who would like further information on where to study
• who would like full support throughout the application procedure to study at a UK University
• who need supporting application documentation to be translated
• who need help creating a CV in English
• who would like some support and guidance throughout the process of getting a professional job
• who would like to arrange an internship to gain valuable work experience in the UK (EU passport holders only)
• who would like advice on where to get a temporary job whilst studying in the UK (EU passport holders only)

EduGold also provide tailormade courses for individuals and groups who are looking for specialized courses to progress their international students in specific areas of study, locations and timetables.

Associates

All contributors have worked both in English schools, universities & the corporate sector in a combination of educational sales, academic & operations roles. We have all taught & counseled a wide range of people including non-native speakers of English in a variety of learning situations both in the UK & abroad. We pride ourselves on our high standards & record of success & welcome you to become a part of it.

Germaine Broadbent, Managing Director, Director of Studies & Head of Careers Services.

GB has been teaching since 1996. She has taught students of all ages in both group & individual formats. As well as general group & exam preparation classes, she has specialised in individual and small group bespoke courses. In 2005 she taught an intensive preparation course for a Russian Olympic bid team. They went on to make their final presentations in English & were successful. Sochi will host the Winter Olympics in 2014.

In 2002 GB joined a language training organization and through a series of promotions became Sales Director. Her key achievements included developing the corporate language training department and building a multi site language school. Her client list included Burberry, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) & Tesco.

Germaine has taught in Poland, Slovakia, Portugal & the UK. She is from the North West originally but now lives in Hove, East Sussex. She has two children.

Nicky Smith is a consultant careers adviser & is the Senior Careers Adviser at EduGold.

Nicky is a qualified careers professional with 15 years background in the Higher Education/Further Education and adult guidance sectors. Her experience includes working within a diverse client group including the 16 – 18 age bracket, post graduate students and international undergraduates & students of English as a foreign language.

Nicky is an 'Advanced Practitioner' with the Institute of Careers Guidance private practitioners register, and an active member of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.

Throughout Nicky's career to date, she has worked closely with other Careers professionals and acted as mentor to both colleagues and employees. She is a published writer of online and hard copy careers information created for the careers profession media, and university careers services including Roehampton.

Maria del Mar Bueno Masa is a Sales and Marketing Executive at EduGold.

MdM is a languages professional. She graduated in English Philology (bachelor degree) from the University of Barcelona, holds the equivalent qualification of the PGCE & is a qualified translator. Mª del Mar qualified as an English teacher in 2006. She has taught a wide range of age groups, levels and nationalities, as well as preparing students to favourably obtain the FCE - First Certificate in English.

Her experience has been supplemented by lifelong learning courses and by the creation of her own course materials and pbworks website. She has taught in both language and independent schools in Barcelona and the UK.

She speaks fluent Spanish, Catalan and English, together with an understanding of French and Italian. She has been living and working in the UK since 2012.

Magdalen Attwater is a consultant careers adviser, course writer & teacher at EduGold.

Magdalen Attwater is Head of the Careers Service at St Mary's University College. She has been working for The Careers Group, University of London for five years and has experience of working in the Careers Services at King's College London and Royal Holloway, University of London.

Magdalen has seen a 31% rise in Careers Service take up since she has been in her current role at St Mary's. During this period she has also had two children.

Magdalen is also a fully qualified English Language Teacher and has lived and worked abroad in Portugal, Spain, Brazil and Australia teaching a range of students from children to individual corporate clients & exam preparation classes. She also developed course outlines, content & materials for a range of courses including 'English in IT' & 'Contemporary Culture'.

In 2005 Magdelen taught the Lower FCE preparation class [a 'crammer' class designed for weaker students who are determined to take the First Certificate Examination]. 92% of the students from her class achieved a grade C or above.

Shirley Finlayter is a consultant writer, teacher & teacher trainer at EduGold.

Shirley has been an EFL teacher in the public and private sector for more than ten years and has gained considerable experience teaching all age groups and levels. She has successfully fulfilled the role of teacher trainer with EFL and MFL teachers both in the UK and overseas and has directed seminars and courses for a wide number of English Language Teaching organisations including The British Council, Bell International & Cactus Language Training. Shirley has extensive experience of producing & teaching bespoke courses, materials, and language level tests for corporate organisations. Her specialisms are in course design and the development of educational materials.

Her most recent key achievement has been to coordinate the launch of a new 3-year long project for overseas secondary schools teachers to improve their use of English and application of modern ELT teaching methods.

Shirley has taught in Colombia, Libya, Lebanon & the UK. She speaks fluent Spanish, is from London and is single.

Anita Bonner is a consultant adviser, course writer & teacher at EduGold.

Anita currently works on a programme that the University of Gothenburg runs at the University of Sussex, teaching oral and written proficiency and a theoretical grammar course. She also organises and teaches on short courses for teacher trainees and English for university administrators. She has held this position since 2004.

Anita's previous teaching experience has been at language schools in Hove and London, and also a year in Poland and six years in Japan. She has been an IELTS examiner, regularly examining at the University of Brighton and the British Council in Tokyo.

She has a degree in French and Italian, and speaks conversational Japanese.
